What work is being performed on I-10?

A $42.4 million transportation improvement project is underway on I-10 between Clearview Parkway and Veterans Memorial Boulevard.  The project includes widening I-10 from six to ten lanes.  The interchange at Clearview Parkway is also being improved and a sound wall is being constructed adjacent to the interstate.  The work began in January 2012 and is slated for completion in late 2013. 

How much does the project cost and who is paying for it?

The construction cost for this project is approximately $42.4 million. The project is jointly funded by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

How long will it take to complete the work?

The project is slated for completion in late 2013.

Who is responsible for the construction work?

The construction project is being administered by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. Volkert, Inc., of New Orleans, La., is providing construction engineering and inspection service in support of DOTD. The construction contractor is J.B. James Construction LLC of Baton Rouge, La.
